One of the first things to do is to analyse the last few days messages that have ended up in 'spam'. ![]() Note how the 'tool tip' indicates the node name in Daisy. This will differentiate some of the annoying junk messages, which are almost genuine, from the worst 'spam', as the latter never comes from the same place twice. Just look at any 'From' node in the Daisy Chart, which has a count of greater than 1. You may like to define some of these as POPFile 'magnets' to further improve performance. When we started analysing 'spam', we did find that some of the useful 'lists', such as VISBAS-L ended up in 'spam'. As before 'magnets' were the cure. Whilst doing this analysis, we found quite a few messages to By clicking on this 'To' node and looking at the records we found that someone had joined a supermarket mailing list with this E-Mail address. They had also sold it on without checking it was genuine! However, these irritating messages have now stopped as after a couple of E-Mails to the company, an apology was received and the address was erased from all lists. ** Tip - We always complain when this sort of thing happens! Remember too in the UK there is the Harrassment Act, which was originally passed to deal with stalkers. If you point out to the legal department of a company, that their messages may be contravening this Act, they tend to move very fast! Just three messages are enough! No-one has tried it out yet!
