Hour is a very powerful mapping format to apply to time values.

It returns the hour of the day as 0, 1, 2 etc.

** Tip - Use this mapping format with the related Day of Week to analyse date and time based databases for significant patterns.

Hour of the Day  Hour of the Day - All Shown

Note that the chart on the right shows all hours even if they don't have any records mapped to them.

Typical uses include :-

  • Transaction databases to see if processing is being performed on days and at times when they are not expected.

Does this mean fraud or attempts at it?

  • Traffic databases for such things as phone, fax and World Wide Web.

Do your switches and servers have sufficient capacity?

  • Product Quality showing failures, complaints and guarantee returns.

Is the Friday car still with us?

Does Monday morning production have a lot of returned product?

See Hour in the Help for more details.
