In mapping a database, there are four main mapping types, each with their own mapping formats :-

• Text - The data is treated as a text string.

• Numeric - The data is treated as a number. If it is not numeric, the data cannot be mapped and a warning results.

• Date - The data is treated as a date. Daisy makes full use of the flexibility in Windows and can decode most forms of date.

• Time - The data is treated as a time.

** New - A fifth group, Tests, contains all of those mapping formats that test for various conditions and return 'True' and 'False'.

These are also contained in the other four mapping types. For example Test Contains ... is also in Text.

The choice of mapping format although it appears daunting at first, is actually a fairly simple process provided a few rules are followed.
