Daisy Analysis Features - Mapping - Break-Numeric

Back

This mapping format takes a numeric value and splits it into up to five nodes defined by break-points.

Consider a numeric field being mapped using Break - Numeric with breakpoints of 60, 120, 300 and 600. This would give nodes of :-

  • <= 60
  • 60 to 120
  • 120 to 300
  • 300 to 600
  • > 600
Note that break-points are always included in the lower valued node.

Break - Numeric

Note that this is very much a recommended mapping format as it creates a limited set of nodes, which are easier to view and analyse.

Consider mapping the height in centimetres of all pupils in a school. If you were to map these directly you would probably get too many nodes to ascertain anything of value.

But using Break - Numeric will produce a small number of nodes split appropriately.

See Break - Numeric in the Help for more details.
