Integrated Applications

Daisy has been designed to be an essential part of a company or organisation's data analysis system.

Use Daisy to analyse, split and distribute reports and data.

Data

In a typical application, the data is often held in a large database or warehouse, running something like Oracle, SyBase or Focus. Daisy can be linked directly to this database, but we find that Daisy works much faster and with less disruption, if it is linked to a local copy of the data to be analysed.

It is recommended that this data be held in a simple CSV file, as this again improves performance, although with larger versions of Daisy, formats such as Microsoft Access and Excel, and dBase are also very acceptable. But all will be slower, than the simple file.

** Tip - Remember that Microsoft ADO is a very good, quick and reliable way of connecting to a database.

In many applications, a simple Visual Basic program based on something like the Daisy Opener, can be used to download all or selected data, from the main database and perform the conversion to the local format required.

Analysis

Once the problem has been understood, the standard analyses can be performed, thus making day-to-day analysis a quick and easy process.

Each Daisy Chart produced would be viewed, printed and investigated, to see if the data was as expected.

Often the best check is to see if today's chart is of a similar form to say the same day of last week, when the same pattern is to be expected.

Templates

Each of the analyses can be defined as a template.

These small files hold all of the information required to produced the analysis, and draw the Daisy Chart.

A point to note, is that each template, can hold a full URL, which can point to a document on the Internet or your own Intranet, thus making the distribution of help and assistance much easier.

HTML Charts

** New - The latest version of Daisy can generate the charts as an integrated HTML Chart, which can be distributed on the World Wide Web or a local Intranet.

HTML Charts are a powerful addition to the creation of truly company-wide Integrated Applications.

Distribution

Daisy has been designed so that reports, and selections from the database can be delivered in the most efficient and economical way possible.

Automated Systems

Integrated systems can also be automated using any of the standard programming techniques available in Windows; ActiveX, command line arguments or as a Daisy OCX.

The first two techniques are available to users of Daisy Lite Plus or greater, whilst the Daisy OCX is available as a separate purchase.
