What is an Active Chart?

All charts drawn and printed by Daisy are 'active'! And very much so!

Active charts have several unique properties, when compared to the passive charts drawn by most programs :-

What is a Link?

A link is drawn between pairs of nodes in the Daisy Chart and illustrates the strength of the relationship.

Nodes, Links and Histograms

Links are normally drawn in black, if their value is positive and red if negative. Note that a link can only have a negative value, if a weighting is being used.

Note that the stronger the link or the greater its value, the darker it will be shown.

What is a Node?

Common data values in the Daisy Chart are mapped to individual boxes or nodes.

In the figure two nodes are fully shown with values of Q1 1995 and Q2 1995.

Why are Daisy Charts Circular?

Daisy Charts are circular for two main reasons.

  1. The structure allows links which show the strength of the connection between the different nodes.

  2. The circular layout allows more information to be placed in a single image.

Note that the circular layout was first proposed by Florence Nightingale.
