Naming Files

When designing systems, it is always advised that you generate a proper naming convention for databases and templates.

Daisy also uses a few rules of its own, which should be followed :-

  1. CSV files should have the standard .txt or .csv extensions.
  2. Templates should use .dyt.
  3. Examples are stored in the 'Examples' sub-directory of the Daisy Program Directory.
  4. Pair databases and templates whenever possible, as in the supplied examples.

The most important thing to remember, is that if you are generating databases on a periodic basis, then the names should be based on the date.

It is also recommended that the date be represented in the file name in the form yyyymmnn. This way that a directory listing can show the files easily in the correct order.

Thus a database for June 19, 2000 might be called PC20001906.csv.
